Looking For a Film Editing Intern in the Bay Area!

troublefilms assistant ella making feminist porn!

troublefilms assistant ella making feminist porn!

I am looking for an editing intern to edit feminist, queer, indie porn for school credit – or just to learn some new skills. Before you go any further, please be in the bay area, have your own laptop, and have some previous editing experience. Thank you.

To apply: You MUST email me an application, resume, link to previous editing work, and cover letter to be considered for this internship. Comments and other social networking forms of communication are not considered an application!

This is not a “get free editing lessons from Courtney” session – you must already know how to edit and be interested in taking your skills to the next level and get some more experience. You will be asked to edit around 2-5 hours a week and produce final pieces on a deadline. You will, however, get a chance to be immersed in indie feminist porn, beef up your skills, and perhaps learn some additional editing skills, or take away from the experience a deeper knowledge of pornography.

Please email your resume and cover letter to courtneytrouble at gmail com, along with this application:

- Name

- Date of Birth (must be over 18)

- Location

- Current study subjects in school, if you are in school

- Why do you want a porn editing internship? What’s in it for you?

- How familiar are you with Courtney Trouble’s work? What’s your favorite film/project related to Trouble?

- List your other commitments and jobs

- Please decribe your experience in editing video.

- Please describe your current skills with Final Cut Pro 7

- Have you ever color corrected, edited sound, or worked with multiple tapes/angles while editing?

- Please include links to a sample reel of your editing work, or any short films or previous film projects you’ve edited. (You must have at least one example to be considered.) You can use YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, et cetera, to house your work.

- Please give an idea of what your schedule might be for the next 3 months – can you meet every other week? Can you work from home?

Details:

- Working for school credit can be arranged for your next semester.

- Can also be done outside of school or for no credit, just to learn/practise

- On average, 2-5 hours of editing a week at least, more if desired by intern.

- Will be working with importing raw footage from Mini DV, cutting, sound, color, dual angles, titles, and exporting for hi resolution web streaming.

Requirements:

- Must be in the Bay Area.

- Must have own laptop to edit on - we can provide a working copy of Final Cut Pro 7 to use for project.

- Must have some experience editing film with Final Cut Pro, just the basics will do.

- Must have a good sense of sound and color.

- Must be self-driven and motivated to finish projects on a deadline.

In return, you will receive:

- 6 month Memberships to QueerPorn.TV and IndiePornRevolution.Com

- Fuckstyles and Live Sex Show on DVD

- Two free tickets to the next Cum & Glitter performance in San Francisco.

- Written credit as Editor on all finished projects

- Editing lessons from Courtney Trouble as desired (lessons on DVD authoring, sound editing, or Photoshop can also be arranged.)

Awards Season and Film Festivals!

me and Tobi Hill-Meyer at the Feminist Porn Awards

Hello!

There is so much going on right now, I don’t want to bombard you with individual posts about every little thing, so here’s an amazing list of what’s going on this awards season and film festival season!

My documentary (made with Tina Horn) What Makes Us Queer, is making a delicious trip through the film festivals this year – including one I’m REALLY excited about – San Francisco’s penultimate film festival Frameline! WHOA! Visit our page on Frameline for more information.

What Makes Us Queer is only available to be seen on the queer porn DVD Fuckstyles – or at the festivals it’s playing this summer. Aside from Frameline you can see it at the touring Best of Cinikink (where it won best Experimental Short) in Las Vegas on June 9th, or the PERV festival in Australia, and a few extra sepcial festivals coming up that I can’t announce yet – but whew! this movie’s getting around.

And of course, Fuckstyles won Most Deliciously Diverse Cast at this year’s Feminist Porn Awards, and one of it’s stars James Darling took home the coveted Hearthrob of the year Awards from them as well. That was a big win and of course, I adore the FPAs and all that they stand for. I am enjoying watching them grow into an event that the mainstream adult industry looks toward while maintaining their feminist beliefs. Watch QueerPorn.TV’s acceptance speech here.

Speaking of awards, The Erotic Awards in London just released their nominations for thier prestigious awards ceremony happening on May 25th, and my biggest indie porn site NoFauxxx.Com has been nominated in the WEBSITE category. The other nominees come from all over the globe and include my friend Jiz Lee – take a look! I could spend all night discovering all these new people, places, and publications. See all the Erotic Awards nominees here.

And finally, but kind of the most interesting as far as “Courtney Trouble News” goes – I have been nominated as best Nightlife Photographer by the California Nightlife Awards for my party-positive photobooths from Hard French. Although I have retired from the monthly parties (I work too much!) I am still very much connected to this party, which is run by a collective of queer folks of color and my dear friends Devon and Tom Temprano. (Temprano is DJing my wedding!) The awards take place on May 31st and the photographer award will be chosen by the people – so if you go, please vote for me! :)

Courtney Trouble’s award-winning film Live Sex Show Now Available for VOD/Digital Download!

Live Sex Show, best known for it’s groundbreaking live performance with porn legends Nina Hartley and Jiz Lee, is now for sale as a digital download at CourtneyTrouble.Com.
Released by Courtney’s very own TROUBLEfilms production company, Live Sex Show has received  a Feminist Porn Award nomination as well as the “Bring It” Best Porn Award from the Cinekink Film Festival since it’s release in October 2011.

Along with Jiz Lee and Nina Hartley; April Flores, Tina Horn, and Courtney Trouble also star in this film, which was shot in front of a live, horny audience at the San Francisco Masturbate-a-thon in 2010 at the Center for Sex and Culture. Indeed, this film was made as a benefit to the Center, led by sex positive icons Carol Queen and Robert Lawrence.

This film was the first release on Courtney Trouble’s independent film and website production company, and is also Trouble’s first inclusion of heterosexual sex scenes in her films, and certainly not the last. April Flores and Jolene Parton both star with their real-life male lovers, showing that Trouble’s queer porn career will gracefully transition into a full scale all-inclusive production house that blends the underground critically acclaimed and academically rejoiced Queer Porn Movement with a growing heterosexual fan base that prefers to see couples, high-chemistry couplings, and authentic desires portrayed on screen.

Live Sex Show has been kept from VOD and online porn streaming distributors until now, with it’s first release at CourtneyTrouble.Com’s online store, featured for only $25.00 for a full DVD quality download to own, unrestricted file that’s compatible with iTunes or Quicktime, and most mobile smartphones and tablets.

Live Sex Show will also be released at Adult DVD Empire for VOD within the month, Trouble says – an exciting connection that means more fans and more funds for this growing and ground-breaking company.

The film has been available only on DVD format until this time, with retailers like Smitten Kitten and Eden Fantasys at the top of sales. Wholesale inquiried for the DVD should be sent to orders@courtneytrouble.com or check out the TROUBLEfilms website for more information!

TROUBLEfilms picks up Distribution of Doing It Ourselves and The Genderfellator

San Francisco, CA – Ethical porn production and distribution company TROUBLEfilms is pleased to carry the work of director Tobi Hill-Meyer. This exciting collaboration will open new avenues for both companies, and make Hill-Meyer’s films more readily available to her quickly growing fan base.

Tobi Hill-Meyer’s films Doing It Ourselves: The Trans Women Porn Project and The Genderfellator, produced by Handbasket Productions, are available for wholesale through TROUBLEfilms immediately, adding to Courtney Trouble’s films Live Sex Show and Fuckstyles. Contact info@troublefilms.com to place your order now.

Trouble has been a major player in showcasing queer identity and transsexual performers in ethically made independant porn, and is strongly supportive of trans women’s presence in the industry, especially in cases where performers get the chance to define their own terms and represent themselves on screen.

“This new partnership is an opportunity to bring two smaller businesses together to become a larger force in the industry at large, while bringing awareness to the importance of inclusion and positive representation in the adult industry,” says Trouble. “I am enthusiastic about opening new avenues for trans women’s representation.”

“Before I started making porn, I looked around at what existed and I was disappointed,” said Tobi. “Mainstream transsexual porn felt like a straight male fantasy and didn’t represent the trans women that I knew, and feminist and queer porn seemed to barely represent trans women at all.  I focus my work on letting trans women represent their sexuality the way they want to see themselves represented.”

“I can’t wait to see what we can do together,” says Tobi. “Look out porn world, here we come.”

Nude Shots Published on the Cover the of SF Bay Guardian featuring Courtney Trouble alongside cover story retelling QueerPorn.TV’s participation in the Adult Entertainment Expo

Featured photos reminiscent of Madonna’s epic nude hitchhiking photo taken with Dylan Ryan and trans performer Billy Castro; cover story written by Caitlin Donohue retells a queer adventure in Vegas for AEE and explores the difference between “lesbian” and “queer” pornography!

The SF Bay Guardian, this Wednesday published a nude shot of indie porn-star and pornographer Courtney Trouble on the cover and a fully nude shot inside featuring the star along with well known queer porn performers Billy Castro and Dylan Ryan. The article describes the recent QueerPorn.TV (directed by C. Trouble and Tina Horn) cast and crew trip to the Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) to celebrate QPTV’s nomination for Best Alternative Website and promote the upcoming film FUCKSTYLES (of the queer and famous) available through TROUBLEfilms this week!

Both photos were printed uncensored and taken by photographer Molly DeCoudreaux, and the shot was a recreation of the Hitchhiking photo of Madonna, taken for her revolutionary, controversial sex book in 1992. The photo was shot on the corner of 18th and Castro in the legendary Castro district in San Francisco, predominantly known for it’s gay male sexual revelry, which has also been home to the GayVN awards, in the past.

Courtney could not be more thrilled. “This article and photograph are getting national coverage, and the movement I helped create is finally taking off in a major way.” She said with excitement. “This scene was built on love and I will protect it with every bone in my body. The San Francisco Bay Guardian has really broken down the walls today and I am proud to live in the bay area at such an amazing time in the fight for free speech, GLBTQ awareness and community-building.  A photo of my naked body was printed in full color on the cover of a major urban newspaper, and inside with trans man icon Billy Castro and outspoken feminist sex worker Dylan Ryan.  I am shedding my skin in the public eye and your love and support gives me so much strength.”

When inquired about his strip down, Bill Castro said, “I admire and love Courtney so much that i was honored they asked me to jump into the shoot and gladly ripped of my clothes. Plus, who doesn’t want to get butt naked in the Castro?”

For more on the trip from Courtney’s perspective of going to AEE see the blog she wrote here. Also, pick up this amazing collector-worthy, whiplash inducing copy of the guardian, while you still can!!
