Courtney Trouble is the reigning princess of alternative queer pornography and had a major role in creating and defining the Queer Porn genre, in fact, she may have coined the term “queer porn.”
“She’s the final word when it comes to smut with attitude, character, and soul.”
-SF Bay Guardian
In 2002, Trouble created NoFauxxx.Com, the largest and longest-running queer porn site in history. Her site is not only gay, lesbian, and trans-friendly; Many of the 150 performers and models on the site are “Alt” porn and mainstream porn stars.
She has successfully mixed her lo-fi “do-it-yourself” indie-art aesthetic with an accessible, understandable, yet female-forward porn formula that the average porn consumer (whoever that is!) as well as the subversive, political, and inquisitive crowd can enjoy.
She currently directs one film a month for the Reel Queer Productions, a branch of Good Releasing, the porn production company created by the legendary all-inclusive, female-forward, and trend-setting sex toy retailer Good Vibrations.
“fabulously fierce femme queer pornographer”
- J.D. Bauchery, Hot Movies For Her
Her debut film, Roulette, was released in June 2009 by Reel Queer Productions, which won a Feminist Porn Award for Most Deliciously Diverse Cast. Roulette recently played at the Berlin Porn Film Festival. This film, which took over 3 years to shoot, is an expose’ on the diversity of desire, and has sequels on the way.
Her first full-length film for Reel Queer Productions was Nosatlgia, released in August of 2009. It was featured at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival and has gotten rave reviews from Fleshbot, Scarlet Lotus St. Syr, and more.
“If the future is like this, the future can’t come soon enough.”
-Lux Alptraum, Fleshbot
Trouble’s third film, Speakeasy, has screened in Atlanta, San Francisco, and Berlin.
Trouble and No Fauxxx were recently awarded Best Queer Porn by the SF Bay Guardian, which says of Courtney Trouble: “She’s the final word when it comes to smut with attitude, character, and soul. Not only is No Fauxxx the oldest running queer porn site on the Internet, it’s also the only spot that mixes alt, gay, lesbian, straight, trans, kink, and BBW content. It’s sexy, artsy, entertaining, all-inclusive, and totally DIY.”
She started NoFauxxx.Com as a 19 year old photographer and web designer, with the purpose of creating an indie porn site that was authentic, empowering, and all-inclusive. She wanted it to break stereotypes in the adult industry, and act as a tool for ladies, queers, and artists, to explore the erotic and sexual side of creativity. She soon found herself as one of the founders of the queer porn movement, setting the stage for all that was to come.
While she easily had a hand in coining the term “Queer Porn,” she’s inspired by films that were queer long before the word came along, such as “How to Fuck in High Heels” by S.I.R. She’s also heavily inspired by classic porn (She lists “Behind the Green Door” in her top five movies, including non-adult films) and her real life experiences, which included being a former Lusty Lady dancer and madame, working for lesbian porn mag On Our Backs, and being legally married to her wife in a post Prop-8 world.
Courtney Trouble is also a queer porn performer who has been in a few amazing titles under the performance name Trouble, including Champion, Wild Search, and the upcoming Behind the Red Door, shot by Carlos Batts. “Being on both ends of the camera is important to me,” says Trouble. “It teaches me how to properly show respect to performers, as well as the basics of having performative sex on camera, which come in handy as a director.”
A recent venture for Courtney Trouble was the creation of RealQueerPorn.Com, a collaborative historical record and archive of queer porn films, film-makers, academic papers, and even a list of queer porn stars.
One of her short stories was recently published in “Fist of the Spider Woman,” an anthology of feminist horror erotica alongside Michelle Tea and Nomy Lamm.
Courtney Trouble maintains a blog as a record of her many exploits at CourtneyTrouble.Com. She also sometimes releases photographs and video clips from her films in advance here, so take a peek.

well. billy castro is a heterosexual ftm, and didn’t want to do a bottoming scene. if you want to see some queer ftms and ftm bottoms, check out seven minutes in heaven #2, speakeasy, roulette, roulette berlin, roulette dirty south. i think you’de have to beg billy castro for a long, long, time before he would consider bottoming in porn.
Wow, yes I’d say that’s enough of a tease. I’m excited for this to come out!
no need to beg nobody i rather see real hertero one than fake one………..
